To develop the Adversary Profile Concept as an effort to integrate difference in the framework of strengthening the totality of the NKRI

Accordingly with the jargon of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, Unity in Diversity, the Indonesian condition is indeed diverse;  at least there are more than 300 ethnic groups, or 1340 tribes, 737 languages and 6 religious groups spread throughout Sabang to Merauke. These differences have the potentials to generate conflicts, which in the past have been manipulated by the colonial rulers with their dissension policy. However, this difference also has the potential to generate a great power if it is managed to be integrated conducively in the form of awareness of having  a nation and a state.

The awareness of having a nation began to spring with the birth of the Boedi Oetomo movement,  and progressively found their form through the Kongres Pemuda, the Youth Congress, wihich gave birth to the Sumpah Pemuda, the Youth’s Oath.  Subsequently developing  during the era of the independence movement, strengthening unity and totality, solidarity, sense of sharing the same fate, which generate the fighting spirit to oust the colonial rulers from Bumi Nusantara, the fatherland.  The independence movement has succeeded in seeing the nation to be an independent, united, and sovereign with the declaration of the independence of Indonesia. This era was the golden age of the fertile growth of the nationality concept in the hearts, thoughts, attitudes and actions of the entire nation’s components.  This issue was made possible by the presence of a significant factor, which is the colonial ruler as a common adversary, which serves as a unifier. Now the question is, what will happen if the unifier is no longer there?

Presently, Indonesia does not yet have this unifier and has not learned much about difference;  we are more adrift and asleep in the perception of equality as a strength.  Difference, when not well-managed, will eventually outlet in dissension and destruction.

With that in mind,  this opportunity is taken to offer the concept of “Adversary Profile” which is the reflection of three elements; Toughness, Resilience, and Flexibility. These three aspects are believed to be able to generate individual awareness to survive and at the same time to weave  conducive interactions in differences in his community.

Accordingly, it is necessary to undertake a study I depth whether the three elements could serve as a prime solution to conclude difference in the strengthening of the totality of the NKRI.
